~Sketchy Fashion!!~Naturally Drawn to It. Wearable Illustrations

11:21 AMCapitol de Beaute Blog by Melanie Woodroffe

Currently, I am drawn {pun intended!} to the quickly growing trend of illustrated style. Closely correlated to the look of graphic sketches, but turned into clothes, accessories & jewelry! Elvira 't Hart's work is an inspiration to thinking way outside of the box of possibility!

I have always had a fascination with fabric & am always on the lookout for unique colors, textures & graphics! I have a collection of vintage cloth, recycled leathers and 1920s to 40s prints that I absolutely love, and as a child, my Mother taught me how to sew. I love fabric manipulation for the very reason I love to sew, turning something so simple into a work of art.

If you really think about it, sewing is the most primitive & technologically advanced form of art. It is both design & necessity. With the insertion of options, like 3D printing, fabric manipulation, fiber optics & LED, the use of textiles become part of the evolution of design. This futuristic look is no trend either! Dating back in history, fabrics cut, sewn, manipulated and/or deconstructued, all had an eye on the future of illustration!
