~Bonen Bonnets!~A Head Turner!
12:41 PMCapitol de Beaute Blog by Melanie WoodroffeIt's like Candy
I can feel it when you walk
Even when you talk, it takes over me.
~Cameo
Every time I hear the word 'Cameo', it makes me think of the 70s/80s funk group 'Cameo', you know....the cod piece worn by the lead singer and the song 'Candy'.
Yep, Word up.
However, today is to show you the gift my Mother gave me recently. This cameo belonged to my Grandmother, and I have loved it since I was a child. Beautifully carved out of shell and encased in twisted 14k gold, this brooch/pendant reminds me of why I love things with history so much!
Just like the group, Cameo....ow!
Yep, history just collided!
Seriously now! In 2004, a few months before my Grandmother passed away, she gave me a gorgeous Wedgewood blue brooch from Germany, I always wear it with a simple white v-neck t-shirt, off to the side, near my left shoulder or with a navy ribbon worn around my neck. Nothing complicated, just a splash of blue with white, a constant reminder of my Grandmother's elegance and a tribute to the passing on of rich history.
How do I plan to wear this newly gifted piece? As a pendant on a gold chain, pearls and maybe an occasional slip of an ivory silk ribbon. Or all three.
Doesn't that sound so pretty?
Take a look at the jewelry that you have. Is it different & beautiful? Does it make you smile & remember someone dear to you? All vintage jewelry holds history you know!
Dust it off, mix with chain, pearls and ribbon to give it a new modern life, then wear proudly.
It's like {eye} Candy! Ow! Click here for a view of the past.....

~Wrap it up!~A No Miss for Target & Missoni!
10:24 AMCapitol de Beaute Blog by Melanie WoodroffeYay! Let the countdown begin....
So when Target launched the historic British line Liberty of London a couple of years ago, I was there when the doors to my local Target opened. I purchased all the dresses (well, the ones I REALLY liked, which was like, all of them!) and am still wearing those dresses today, and yes, I actually have on the Peacock dress right now! So classic! I love the classics!
On September 13, 2011 one of my favorite brands EVER, Missoni will offer their signature waved~lined products to the masses, and if you appreciate style as much as I do, well, you have best be on Target when the doors swing open! (on Target property, that is!)
Oh, how I love to use the colorful play on words!
Anyway, as I was saying, Missoni is one of the most recognized luxury brands on the planet! I own a few vintage Missoni pieces and let me tell you, just one scarf, top, or sweater can really add extra style to your everyday look!
Now, I plan to be in line for a few stylish items to wear, however, I am aiming for a couple of these blankets! I plan to use on the benches by the fire pit in the back yard, or to decorate the dinner table al fresco! The colors will go with any and all table decorations!
A perfectly fab addition to Fall & the great outdoors!
Yes, I know you agree and I hope to see you there!
Missoni for Target!
Take aim on September 13th!
Do you ever just want to escape from it all?
A week away touring the English countryside or perusing through a Paris flea market sounds delightful, right?
No money for the airfare? No vacation time left?
What to do?
How about a Saturday day trip? Day trips are a divine way of going places, learning something new, and stepping away from the mundane. Traveling outside of your normal route can give one new perspective.
Go!
Make sure to dress in comfortable clothes....as Fall approaches we may find ourselves with very cool mornings, and super hot afternoons. Dress in layers.
Want to make your Saturday day trip extra interesting? Put together an outfit that is out of the ordinary for you!
I love a bit of leopard, a cardigan sweater, cotton tank top, like below.

Fun graphics can add a whole new dimension to classics!
Psst....remember, comfortable & fashionable shoes
and also bring extra bags for packing and carrying found treasures!
Hey Day Tripper! Have fun!
The Change.
It is coming!
Summer will be gone soon and the coolness of Autumn will put us all in a much better frame of mind.
What will you be wearing?
I personally love the idea of cashmere with leather, denim and boiled wool....lovely fabrics, beautifully thrown together.
Sort of a rough hewned look.

| Andre Perugia 1930s |
"Andre Perugia was born in Nice, France in 1893. He came from a long line of Italian shoemakers. Perugia made shoes for famous designer Paul Poiret, and it was through Poiret that he was introduced to Parisian society and opened his first boutique in 11 Rue du Faubourg St. Honore, Paris. Perugia soon became famous for his craft.
In 1927, Andre Perugia traveled to New York, where he was celebrated by high society for his shoe designs. In 1933, Perugia created the brand Padova, which was exclusively distributed in the United States by Saks Fifth Avenue. Perugia is one of the early pioneers of modern high heel shoe styles. During the 1920s, his list of clients included Queen Elizabeth, Eva Peron, and movie actresses as Greta Garbo, Gloria Swanson, and Pola Negri, not to mention famous Josephine Baker. Perugia also made very high fetish shoes with extreme 6 to 7 inch stiletto heels for the famous French singer Mistinguett in 1948. He also made high and very narrow heels as early as 1930.
Perugia constantly challenged preconceived notions of what a shoe could be and was amazingly inventive in pushing the boundaries of shoe design. He also worked with other great fashion designers such as Jaques Fath, Hubert Givenchy, Madame Vionnet, Madame Gres, Christian Louboutin, Coco Chanel, and Pierre Balmain. In the 1930s, he also made witty shoes for Elsa Schiaparelli. Andre Perugia made slippers and pumps that resemble high-heeled shoes with no heels that defy the law of gravity."
